FAQs

  • As early as possible! It’s important to have all your puppy’s shots before taking them to public places on leash but that doesn’t mean that you should post pone training! Training begins in the home with proper boundaries, crate training, potty training, and obedience. It’s good to get your puppy out in public as soon as possible but if they haven’t had all their shots, make sure you are keeping them off the ground where bacteria and viruses can linger!

  • Nope! Unless their quality of life has been greatly compromised due to old age (in which case you should probably consult with your vet), you can always teach an old dog new tricks!

  • No! When purchasing an e-collar, make sure you’ve done your research on quality and have been taught how to use it appropriately! When these factors are put into play, the e-collar is completely humane and is a great communication tool for training!

  • Trick question… you can’t! Crates are only prisons if you use them like one! A dog’s crate should be their safe space! Make sure you have the correct size (this is crucial for potty training) and always provide a high reward like their favorite food or toy when crating them. If they tend to bark, wait it out. Try covering the crate with a blanket to encourage sleep. Never use the crate to punish!

  • After eating, drinking, sleeping, and after crating! A good rule of thumb to remember is for the number of months old they are is how many hours they can hold their bladder/bowels. (For example, 4 months of age = 4 hours.)

  • Your dog - that’s it! We provide everything else! We do highly recommend bringing your own food if your dog tends to have a sensitive stomach or food allergies, AND a blanket, soft toy, or old t-shirt from home so they can have your scent with them while adjusting to an unfamiliar place.

  • Bring out the crate and start feeding them in it. This will ensure that they start to associate the crate with a positive feeling and will help with the integration at drop off!
